Use the Support Software loaded on your personal computer to set up operating parameters for your portable Sensor Companion™ unit. These would include sampling rate and alarm thresholds.
You can now set up your portable unit with your industrial sensor or gas detector and collect data. At your option the portable unit can record raw data, alarm data with time stamps, and photograph the immediate environment when an alarm occurs.
Support Software provides plotting, feature detection such as peak detection, and an image gallery to allow you to document misdetections and false alarms and develop digital filters and alarm logic to improve our alarm performance. You can then simulate your new alarm algorithms and keep score based on your historical data set. One way of doing this is to divide your data set into a “training set” and a “test set” to allow you to evaluate a variety of alarm strategies on your collected data.
You are now ready to implement an alarm. The Sensor Companion™ portable unit provides alarm relay closures that you can use to implement audio and visual alarms. The portable unit will also indicate alarms on it’s display screen. You can replay data and review alarms either on the portable unit screen or by uploading the data to the Support Software. The Support Software generates alarm reports as Excel spreadsheets for documentation.
